Here’s the thing about Solar Energy: while it may not be the most cost-effective means of supplementing existing energy sources, it is by far the most eco-friendly alternative energy source. Here’s why.
The Sun’s energy that enters the Earth’s atmosphere is already HERE. Why is this important? Because the energy is already contributing to global warming, whether it’s light being absorbed and converted into heat by the atmosphere, or light being converted by the Earth’s surface.
So basically, by converting that energy into a form we can use, whether electrical or thermal, we are, by the law of conservation of energy, not contributing to global warming in any way. We’re not burning any additional fuels (like ethanol or hydrogen) which is adding additional heat by converting matter into energy. We’re simply converting one form of energy to another, or, by using solar generated electricity for a process such as hydrolysis, we are converting energy to matter which is then again converted into the heat that was already there to begin with. Zero carbon footprint!
So, while I’ll continue to produce videos that are basically DIYs, you’ll be seeing more that offer ways to utilize alternative energy sources. Solar Energy is high on the list, like my latest video:

Problem: matter can NOT be changed into energy, nor can energy be changed into matter; the energy is simply being changed from chemical to heat/electricity/whatever.
The ethanol is being broken down and releasing the energy stored in the chemical bonds to the molecules around it in the form of heat energy.
